The Macedonian artist will issue Shades through the Barcelona label, which comes packing a pair of Palms Trax remixes.
If you were to sum up the recent activities of Hivern Discs, you could say the label has thrown caution to the wind. The various reissues the label put out last year from Eduardo De La Calle, Pional. and Trances were diverse in sound and complemented by fresh material from the likes of Man Power, Talaboman, Round, and the excellent C.P.I. It’s therefore pleasing to see Hivern Discs maintain this direction as 2015 unfolds, with its first release coming from the unheralded Herzel, aka Macedonian artist Aleksandar Grozdanovski.
The forthcoming Shades EP looks to be Grozdanovski’s debut solo release as Herzel, with his prior original output restricted to some collaborative records with compatriot Genoveva for the Other Heights label and Rawax offshoot Dubwax. Herzel’s Hivern debut is formed of three original productions – with the opener “Daydreamer” available to stream below – complemented by a pair of remixes from RBMA graduate and Lobster Theremin artist Palms Trax. Herzel’s Facebook profile suggests the Macedonian has material forthcoming on Rotterdam label Pinkman this year too.
Hivern Discs will release Shades by Herzel on February 16.
